Should The City of No Illusions Insist on Reservations ?

A lot of fur flying is about the BTF/ BPS's negotiations being held off city limits. Not sure I give a shite where they're held as long as they're productive and for that matter what other districts are scrambling their fighter jets to have this thing done by the dreaded July 1 deadline? Thanks to "Calvados" of the Edu Blog @ Da Nooze, I learned that only one district Northern Adirondack has even submitted plan and even it hasn't been approved yet.  http://www.governor.ny.gov/BuildingaNewNY/TeacherEvaluationTracker

I guess if I have to lean any way as a resident of the cornbelt who loves to live among the bovines and fresh air while getting my urban on at work each day I'd probably say there's no imperative to hold anything within city limits. To say there is in my book is akin to saying only city dwellers are capable of teaching city kids which to my same bent of cognition is an inbred cousin to the notion that only a black Superintendent will ever be successful presiding over a district whose largest ethnic group is black. It seems the past 2 dismal failures bear out my research but as this is intended to be a forum of exchange not one of compliance I am more than open to hear an opposing point of view on the locale of the eval talks.  There is really no need or desire at this point to censor remarks or insist that people post with their real names,  we all see how well that worked out at the News. Currently I know of one joker who posts with the name of an obscure Brit scribbler and yet another of a decidely conservative bent, bemoaning the "changes" of the Ken Bailey nabe is allowed to post with no sobriquet whatsoever. I personally suspect it's either Bowtie  Rudnick or Bordeaux Bob Wilmers, both of whom are homie deep with Sterling Stan Lipsey.  It would help to keep some things straight though if instead of piling up the anonymouses one atop the other if folks could create a blogger handle so we know who we're hearing from. (Brother Conners, thanks for your fine example and Mel too.)  I love ending sentences with a preposition, you think Joyce or Beckett gave a rat's arse about that ? And in response to the Jim Rome reference it would only seem fair to award a bag of chips at very least to the most enlightening or insulting comment each week. A duirnal accolade I think might end up too much like Doonesbury's Self Esteem Summer Camp where ribbons for trying the oatmeal and trophies for hair combing were part of the edification process.

Here's a little p.s. I had to mention : whaddya think of a non rookie tenured pedagogue at one of our top tier high schools being rated as "developing" instead of "efficient" on the basis of some talk from a few parents at a social gathering ? What's more is the administrator was stupid enough to admit as much and advised our abcedarian to grin and bear it and to wit "just try harder?" Seriously if I didn't trust the source I'd be holding my nose until Paul Harvey could bring me "the rest of the story." But this comes from someone I'd rate a lot higher than I have ever been rated and to think that there's someone out there collecting admin salary with this limited intelligence really makes me wonder why we are even bothering holding negotiations if this is the net result of the process. It's almost as obtuse as the board memberette who told Da Nooze it was simply too much bother to trot over to the secret vault where Cascade was holding the resumes of the Superintendent's applicants and peruse them. I say -ette because I would safely bet that neither Hernandez, nor McCarthy, nor Licata nor the Prez is that stupid. On the other hand, there are a few whose intergity is as iffy as their smarts....

I think the ability of the folks who are sifting through the mounds of crap from the State regarding the punitive and expensive teacher evaluation process to not vomit all over the dung heaps of guidances and regulations is of much more importance than the location of this drudge fest.
Also, I'd welcome either an accolade or a bag of chips.

  5. Mel really now. Tomes. Am I that verbose ? I kid I kid. Thanks for the kind words and I agree they could hold those talks in Club Med and I still wouldn't go for 1/200th salary.

  6. Buff, thanks for dropping in. Likewise I enjoy your wit and wisdom in the murky pages of da Nooze. I find the deform ed page and their FB page have all the charisma of an old card catalog. Bits of happy horseshit and post cards from Albany signed Love Katie. Dull stuff. There's a worse on on FB to though I can't think of it exactly I think it might be Buffalo teachers for change or something with a rotten apple core as an avatar. Whoever it is has some major wood against Phil but is too chickenshit to say who they are. I openly challenged them and hammered them for trying to sow division among our ranks. They responded by wiping all my remarks and I can't comment there any more. Most likely not even Bflo teachers anyway just spineless shit stirrers.
