Looks like we won't have to wait around to see how DRPamelaBrown as I shall call her is going to manage the Buffalo Public Schools. When last she was queried by a B-Lo News reporter it was reported that she spoke in generalities. As things stand in B-Lo Schools this morning we have 54 teachers who were going to be displaced by the unproven and insane strictures of RTTT but are being spared this indignity by an arbitrator's ruling. So the capricious and unfounded demands of NCLB's brain damaged kin RTTT were found to be in violation of the BTF labor agreement. Is that a surprise to anyone who has seen the Democrats for Ed Reform's website/blog where every other posting is an attack on teacher's unions? Of course they'd put a plan in play that will seek confrontation and domination over teacher's unions. Today DRPamelaBrown is quoted in regard to the perennial and seemingly open threat from the charter teacher who roared aka John King the grand imperial wizard of NYSED to withhold funding if teachers refuse to wear silly hats and walk like they have an embarrassing rash thusly : "We are definitely hoping the children will have access to those resources." Not exactly Kennedy's inauguration or Churchill's "We shall fight them on the beaches." Ahh but the school year is young and I really want to give DRPamelaBrown a fair shake. She says she is a collaborator with the union. The previous out of town guest who held her office had all ready shown his true ghetto colors by now blustering and threatening and sticking gum under the tables at Emerson Commons. Amber Dixon, to re-open and old wound, didn't say she was a collaborator, she just collaborated instead. (P.S. Amber, telling them all to Eff Off was the inspirational grand finale of a Superintendency marked by collaboration, mutual respect and a genuine concern for kids.)
Apparently DRPamelaBrown is considering an appeal to the arbitrator's ruling. She is in a bit of a spot here it may be noted. As word drifts to Albany that the RTTT nonsense violates union agreements this writer has no doubt that Commandant King is standing on a box practicing menacing faces in his bathroom mirror. He made these threats and as the petty party bureaucrat charged with making public schools look bad so they can be handed over to corporate deformers to turn a profit, he is going to have to refuse to release the money - AGAIN.
Phil Rumore is not waiting around. When NYSUT yawned and said oh yeah, Buffalo, where is that again? Uhhhh, we'll get a guy on it but this is the week before Labor Day and Pearson Publishing is taking us all golfing with hookers this weekend, Rumore hired his own lawyer. Why are we paying them anything from out dues again? So we can get Obama for School Reform decals to put on our 9 year old cars? Rumore also sidestepped DRPamelaBrown's fiddling while B-Lo continues to smolder and and turned up the heat on her to collaborate if that's truly what she plans to do. He put in all on her front door, wherever that may be, with the following words : "I'm hoping the superintendent will not start her superintendency off by turning her back on an arbitration decision that will anger teachers not just from the three schools, but throughout the district," he said.
Amen, brother.
It is simply ridiculous...how an independent arbitrator is ONLY fair and just when they rule in favor of the school board/district/Ed deformers. Here in NYC, we had a similar situation Mayor BloomTURD, thought he was going to close down schools and get rid of 3,000 teachers. When, the independent arbitrator ruled in favor of the Union, the EDUCRATS stamped their feet, cried, and said the independent arbitrator made a mistake. Of course, they are appealing. They always appeal. Such a complete waste of time, money, and energy!

ReplyDeleteI'm just throwing a big smooch out there for Phil this Labor Day Weekend. This current show of protection for our workers is an act of bravery. All of Buffalo's teachers should be doing two things this weekend:
ReplyDelete1. Thank Phil. He has your back and is not afraid to show some muscle to protect your job.
2. Write to NYSUT and tell Dick Ianuzzi how unhappy you are about his lack of conviction and strength. Shameless and wimpy.
Stay informed and speak up at every point. Don't be complacent. Let's NOT let the new Sup't walk all over us on this issue. DON'T be complacent. Your jobs are NOT secure. DON'T be tricked or intimidated by your administrators into putting unachievable targets on your SLO's. The admins have their own agenda's in this game. YOU are the professional educator. YOU know your children's capabilities. If you run into SLO problems, YOU know what to do. Our union is ready to help us.
Happy Labor Day!
